As the students at Franklin Community are getting back on their schedule for the new school year, the Construction on 31 has affected the way that the students can get to school on time and the staff to get there for the new school day. The Construction on 31 is the plan to make 31 a better and safer road for people to be able to get through 31 fast to where they want to go. This construction has started towards the beginning of 2025 and is planned to be completed by 2028.

While the contractors and the construction workers are building the better road for the future, this is affecting the students and the staff who go/work at Franklin Community. The traffic will get backed up so that the staff and students wouldn’t be able to drive on time to the school and on their way home. The buses that the students use will be more affected by the construction on 31. The bus drivers will have to go on 31 to travel to the different neighborhoods to pick up the students, and by how crowded the traffic could get, they could be late. If the buses are late, then the students who ride the bus would be late to their classes also.

We have interviewed a student about their situation and thoughts about how they are handling the construction. The student had said, “The construction is very terrible for my daily routine as I now changed how I get to school and other places due to it. It is also a massive waste of time as the main reason they are doing this is to add “j” turns and to make it safer, but if the people driving weren’t safe in the first place, why should we allow them to drive and ruin the times of others who do know how?”. Even though the construction has affected the schedules for the staff and students. They all get there to be ready to learn for the new school day.
