Two of the many courses that Franklin Community High School offers are AP Seminar and AP Research. AP Seminar is composed of students learning about the fundamentals of viable research and composing their own research both in a group and individually. The course inevitably prepares students to take the AP exam at the end of the year, where students are asked to analyze sources, state their credibility, and string them together to support an argument and a corresponding solution to an issue. AP Research takes this realm a step further, as students are no longer asked to string together other sources, but rather spend the entire year creating their own research paper on an inquiry of their choice. By taking these two courses, students receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate and become eligible to become an AP Capstone Scholar, with the inclusion of 4 or more other AP exams with a score of 3 or higher.
In this collection, we have included the works of correspondent Keegan Turner McQuinn throughout her time in the Capstone Program. She hopes that this publication will inspire future students to consider the program and implore scholars to delve into topics and experiences that they never thought to explore.
