Silent Hill f is a survival horror game developed by NeoBards Entertainment and released by Konami on September 25th, 2025. The game follows Hinako Shimizu, a high school student, as her town is consumed by fog, forcing her to confront demons from her past.
Graphically, the game looks great; the grey and dim lighting and textures really help to sell the horror of the series. Silent Hill f is the first game in the series not set in the American town of Silent Hill, but it is instead set in 1960s rural Japan, so the game design-wise looks stylistically different from previous entries.
Gameplay is relatively the same as the previous games; however, combat does seem faster and has more emphasis on close combat than Silent Hill 2, for example. Overall, the combat feels snappy and feels good to play.
And of course, the story is one of the most important things for any Silent Hill game. Silent Hill f continues the trend of the previous games with a person with a lot of baggage being affected by the physiological effects of the fog, often forcing them to fight the embodiment of their frustration or guilt. I highly advise anyone to experience the story of this game.
Overall, Silent Hill f is the first entry in the series in a long time that’s not a remake that feels like the right direction for the series. I highly recommend checking it out.
