Mrs. Ulmer is a teacher at Franklin Community High School. Her husband and coworker, Mr. Ulmer, is also a United States soldier, and for the past year, he has been deployed in Kuwait. Mr. Ulmer is loved by the students and staff, and all await his return to the school.
When Mrs. Ulmer’s husband was deployed to Kuwait for a year, she found strength in staying busy and leaning on the people around her. She kept herself occupied by joining a pickleball club, spending time with friends, and even getting a puppy, which brought some fun and distraction into her life. Even though the time difference made things tricky, they were eight hours apart, and she was grateful for technology that let them FaceTime almost every day. Still, some days were hard. She admitted that at first, a year felt impossible, but somehow, it flew by. Her advice to other military spouses going through the same thing? Stay active, stay positive, and surround yourself with a good support system. Now that her husband is finally coming home, he’s so excited that he’s returning to school early, and we are all excited to welcome him back on September 1st!
