There are multiple reasons why Edwards should win the MVP and also be ranked higher in the MVP race (standings). Currently, he is ranked and placed at 7th, which is observed but yes obvisiously he may not drop 40 points every game but occasionally drops 40 doesn’t drop triple-doubles daily like Nikola Jokic but what he does do is come in clutch when it matters which is in the 4th quarter or when the Timberwolves are down in any quarter it is like a switch goes off that makes Ant’s mindset go into kill everything in front of you to get points to take the lead back or win the game with shots he takes. Also, I haven’t seen a single player that is in the MVP race do what Anthony Edwards does when his team is down, nor is there any other player, not just playing on the offense side of the court, but also the defense side of the court, and it’s not just Edwards, it is also his teammates that do the same thing as him. For instance, as Edwards plays both sides of the ball, you can refer to the recent game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Shai-Gil-Alexander. Edwards scored many baskets to get the game in a winning position for the Timberwolves and when that happened he made a cross dribble step back three to take the lead and proceeds to guard Shai on the last possession of the game and proceeds to knock the ball away and out of Shai’s hands causing a turnover and rebound possession to the Timberwolves which ultimately makes the buzzers go off as the 4th quarter ends and the Timberwolves defeat the Thunder. Now, if anyone has thoughts against this opinion, let me know when another MVP candidate is coming clutch at the end of the game to win the game, and not having to have a 40-point game almost every game they play in. Cause Edwards is only scoring at 29-39 points in the games when he plays, whether the Timberwolves are down or not. That’s why Anthony Edwards should win the MVP and be ranked higher in the standings for the MVP race.
