Many people associate the season of Spring to represent rebirth and a new era of growth. This is a time when we plant flowers, watch the world regrow from the Winter cold, and finally open the window to feel a fresh breeze. A crucial symbol of rebirth is an egg, whose production flourishes during this period due to the warm weather and the well-being of local chickens. This symbol has persisted through history beyond its ancient roots, becoming tradition in Christian practice on Easter Sunday, where children find eggs while representing the discovery of Jesus’ empty tomb. Yet the tradition of the egg hunt stretches back to Germanic folklore (Osterhase) and ancient celebrations of Spring and rebirth.
Student Council would like to clarify that this event is an Egg Hunt that is not sponsored or created to impose a certain religion. It is simply an opportunity to find colorful eggs and acquire a fun prize, celebrating the start of Spring.
Students will be able to hunt for eggs throughout next week. There will be 3 eggs per hallway, being the A, B, C, D, E, F, and Athletic hallways. A hallway consists of both the upstairs and downstairs sections. 2 of the eggs will be a solid color, which students may return to Mrs. Elser for a spring-themed prize or piece of candy. If students find a golden egg in a hallway, they may return it to Mrs. Elser and receive a Minecraft squishy that is almost a direct copy of the popular Needoh Nice Cube toy that is very popular right now.
The egg hunt will conclude on Thursday, March 27th, at the end of the school day. Find the eggs while you can and have a happy Spring!
