Graduation is the light at the end of the high school tunnel. As soon as students enter the FCHS halls as freshmen, they begin the march towards the turning of the tassel. FCHS offers a unique opportunity for 2 select students, as these students are given the chance to deliver an inspiring speech to the graduating class and their families. The job of giving graduation speeches has typically been reserved for the Valedictorian and Salutatorian in high schools across the country, but FCHS defies the status quo and lets the best speech win. After all, students will want to hear from those who lived the full high school experience, not just those who had the best grades.
Students can apply for this extraordinary opportunity by writing their speech and submitting it to Mrs. Tilson by May 3rd. After the speech is submitted, tryouts will be on May 7th, immediately after school, in Mrs. Hart’s room. Mrs. Hart is the educator of FCHS’s college-level public speaking course, and she will be joined by a panel of other faculty judges. Students will be assigned a tryout time after submitting their speeches, so be punctual to your allotted time.
This is an amazing opportunity, and both the Grizzly Cub Network and the FCHS Faculty encourage any students to try out. In other regards, the Grizzly Cub Network will be livestreaming the FCHS 2026 Graduation Ceremony on May 23, 2026, on YouTube.
