Construction hits the White House hard with Trump’s new ballroom project.
President Trump started a new project on the east wing of the White House this week, which costs $300 million dollars, privately funded. According to Yahoo, the entire East Wing of the White House will also be modernized as the construction goes on. Many Democrats say that this plan is “destroying the White House” and it “very symbolic of what he is doing to our nation.”
The White House isn’t new to construction, as other presidents had made renovations before, such as George W. Bush. In 1975, Gerald Ford built an outdoor swimming pool on the south lawn. President Harry Truman had a full structural reconstruction of the White House from 1948 to 1952. The west wing of the White House was overhauled, and the current East Wing was constructed from 1934 to 1942. The construction is said to finish by 2029, according to Yahoo.
