On January 20th, 2025 the 47th President Donald J. Trump took office. Since that day Trump has done many things in his position of power as president, some controversial and some not. Today two students give their differing opinions on the president, Donald Trump.
Itzel Miranda is a junior here at Franklin Community Highschool. She is a member of the student council at FCHS, and is a part of the school’s mentoring program, and is president of the Riley Dance Marathon. When asked if Itzel liked Donald Trump as a president, Itzel said “No, I do not like Donald Trump as a person.”
The second person is Brock Hayes, A freshman here at Franklin Community Highschool. Brock Hayes is a wrestler at FCHS. When asked the same question Brock said “Not really, he’s done some bad things, but other than those things, yes.”
Why do these opinions differ so much you might ask. Today I hope to answer that question with each of their answers from this interview.
When both Itzel and Brock were asked if they thought he was doing a good job in office again they gave different answers.
“No, I do not think he is doing a good job as a president because he just took away SNAP” Itzel replied. Brock on the other hand said “Yes, I do think our economy will be a lot stronger now that he’s in office.”
I asked “Do you believe other candidates in the election would have been better?” and again both gave their perspective.
“No, I do not. I think we are a lot stronger country with him in office.” Brock replied.
“Yes, not one candidate was perfect, but there were definitely way better options,” Itzel said.
When asked if their own background and personal experiences with other presidents influenced their opinion they both agreed that their backgrounds influenced how they thought about president Trump. Brock goes on to say “when he was in office for his first term, my family and I were upper middle class, and then Joe Biden got in office, and we were middle to lower middle class. We had to cut back on a lot of things.” Itzel said she isn’t familiar with other presidents because “they weren’t plastered on social media for terrible situations like Donald Trump.”
When asked the final question “If you had the chance would you elect him again?” Itzel gave a strong no but Brock said “Absolutely 100%”
