Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is the direct sequel to the low rated by critics but adored by fans, “Five Night at Freddy’s”. This sequel continues to follow Mike Schmidt’s life, played by Josh Hutcherson, taking the parent role for his sister, Abby’s life, played by Piper Rubio. In this movie they introduce the second game characters, including the “new” Toy Animatronics with some other new characters that come from the game it is inspired by, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2″. Which was made by Scott Cawthon.
The movie takes place 1 year later after the first movie events where Mike Schmidt and Abby Schmidt are living their life in a new house that mike was able to get over time after the 1st movie. Elizabeth Lail returns as Vanessa Afton, and we see more of her back story in this 2nd movie and the movie shows more attention to her than Mike himself. Vanessa is still haunted by her past in this movie and we get shown some of her past from before the first movie takes place. We also get to see some new characters in the movie, including Skeet Ulrich playing Henry Emily, who plays a minor role in the story and tells us about one of the new animatronics in the movie, The Puppet, which in the game is Henry child that had died after being ignored by everyone and she did not get saved and had died. We also see Matthew Lillard return his role as William Afton and he plays a much smaller role than Henry and we get to see some screen time in the movie. We also get to see his son in the movie, which his named is Michael Afton, played by Freddy Carter, who was originally is the night guard in the first few games of the franchise and we get to see his character in this new movie.
The fans of Five Nights at Freddy’s absolutely adore this move including myself, and multiple people that are fans think that this is the best movie out of the whole series. But the critics and the big movie reviewers do not like this movie at all. Rotton Tomatoes who is famous for reviewing movies, gave it a 12% for the overall movie as the critics did not like a single thing in the movie and did not understand the general story of the second movie. IGN has given this movie a 4/10 which is a little better than Rotton Tomatoes rating, but they also really don’t like the movie. Many other critics also think that this movie is bad but that’s just the critics. In my personal opinion, I give this movie a solid 10/10 in my terms. I think that this story is perfect and i really like how they made the animatronics look accurate to the games. I also really like all the little details that are scattered in the movie which some of them are clearly visible and some are harder to see if you’re not looking hard enough.
The creators of the first movie had said after it came out, that if the movie would go really good then they will make a second one, which as we know it went as a success. So they are still keeping that promise and that if the second movie does really well then they will make the 3rd game into a movie, which in my opinion is my favorite five nights at Freddy’s game.
