Have you ever wanted to draw, or looked at someone’s art and thought, “I wish I could do that”? Well, what if you could? Art is a very important aspect of many people’s lives; it serves as a gateway into someone’s mind, allowing them to express their thoughts, or at least put them down on paper. Some people have developed a skill in drawing and making art, while others just sit there and wish they could do the same. Well, what if I told you that you can? All that it takes is time and effort, some studying, and pushing forward!
First off, everyone starts somewhere. Every artist has a starting point where they begin making art, and you might not see someone else’s starting points as good, and that’s okay. You don’t start instantly making a masterpiece; these things take time and effort! Art isn’t a talent; it’s a skill. Your starting point matters, and it’s a gateway into all of the different things you will draw in the future, so don’t be so discouraged.
Now that we got that part out of the way, it’s time to pick up the pencil and start your journey! Now, why does my drawing of a person look… off? That’s not how a human is supposed to look. That’s not how a human looks! Now is a good time to study some anatomy. The human body is a very important thing to study when trying to draw, so that things are proportionate and make more sense. This might be odd, but even staring at a person in their everyday life can help! If you have a love interest, try drawing them, and pay attention to detail, because every detail counts.
Now that you have more of an understanding, it’s time for the most important part, not to give up and keep trying. It might seem easy to just stop and quit art, since it can become quite frustrating at times. Just keep on trying, and you will get better naturally! All you need to do is push forward and keep trying. Not every drawing has to be a masterpiece, and you won’t always be happy with what you make, and that’s okay! I promise you it will keep getting better the more you practice.
Trying new things can be scary, but you never know unless you try. You could end up enjoying art quite a bit, and you might not like it very much, but you never know until you try. Don’t just pick up a pencil and try once; keep coming back to it for a week or two before instantly giving up. Remember, these things take time and effort, and it also helps to study and keep going!
