IndyCar Series New Season has Begun and Is Underway
The IndyCar Series is back for the 2026 season of 2026 after last year’s season, 2025, with the championship series winner last year being #10 Alex Palou (Team Chip Ganassi Racing).
The season has already started for this year’s 2026 season, with three races already in the books (completed). The 3 tracks that have already been completed are the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Phoenix Raceway, and the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington. The first track that was the season opener was the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, with the race winner being last year’s (2025) IndyCar Champion #10 Alex Palou (Team Chip Ganassi Racing).
The Top 10 for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg were:
1st #Alex Palou (Team Chip Ganassi Racing), 53 points, 2nd was #3 Scott McLaughlin (Team Penske), 42 points, 3rd was #7 Christian Lundgaard (Team Arrow McLaren), 36 points, 4th was #27 Kyle Kirkwood (Team Andretti Global w/Curb-Agajanian), 32 points, 5th was #5 Pato O’Ward (Team Arrow McLaren), 30 points, 6th was #28 Marcus Ericsson (Team Andretti Global), 29 points, 7th was #2 Josef Newgarden (Team Penske), 27 points, 8th was #18 Romain Grosjean (Team Dale Coyne Racing), 24 points, 9th was #76 Rinus VeeKay (Team Juncos Hollinger Racing), 22 points, 10th was #19 Dennis Hauger (Team Dale Coyne Racing), 20 points. The race winner was #10 Alex Palou (Team Chip Ganassi Racing).
The second race took place just last week, it was at Phoenix Raceway, which was a Double Header with not just the (IndyCars) IndyCar series being there, the NASCAR series was there with their two series being there, one of them being the NASCAR Cup Series (Cup Cars, Next-Gen-Cars), and their other series, the Auto O’Reilly Auto Parts Series was also there with the IndyCars.
The Top 10 for the Good Ranchers 250 (Phoenix Raceway) were:
1st was #2 Josef Newgarden (Team Penske), 51 points, 2nd was #27 Kyle Kirkwood (Team Andretti Global w/ Curb-Agajanian), 41 points, 3rd was #12 David Malukas (Team Penske), 39 points, 4th was #5 Pato O’Ward (Arrow McLaren), 33 points, 5th was #66 Marcus Armstrong (Meyer Shank w/ Curb-Agajanian), 31 points, 6th was #20 Alexander Rossi (Team ECR), 28 points, 7th was #9 Scott Dixon (Team Chip Ganassi Racing), 27 points, 8th was #3 Scott McLaughlin (Team Penske), 9th was #15 Graham Rahal (Team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing), 22 points, 10th was #8 Kyffin Simpson (Team Chip Ganassi Racing), 20 points. The next 3 races on the schedule will be the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, located in Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, which will be the next race. It will take place on Sunday, March 29, at 1:00 PM ET. The second race will be the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach in the Streets of Long Beach in Long Beach, California. It will take place on April 19th, 2026, on Sunday at 5:30 PM ET. The third race will be the Sonsio Grand Prix at the IMS Road Course in Indianapolis, Indiana. It will take place on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 4:30 PM ET.
