- Getting Killed – Geese
The latest full-length from Brooklyn outfit Geese brings together some of the most creative, zany, and unpredictable rock music of the year. Every song is sonically and thematically unique, yet are connected through strong, underlying themes. One of if not the best rock albums of the 2020s.
- Heavy Metal – Cameron Winter
The debut album from the lead singer of “Geese” is packed full of beautiful singer-songwriter music. The sonic landscape deviates from the work from “Geese”, with a focus on minimal, soft, and intimate tracks. This album is an incredibly personal experience to listen to, while staying incredibly catchy. Easily one of the best albums of the year and, in my opinion, one of the best singer-songwriter albums of all time
- Vanisher, Horizon Scraper – Quadeca
Former YouTuber rapper and fortnite gamer, Quadeca, against all odds has sprouted into one of the most gifted and creative musicians in modern music. Being noticed and working with the likes of Danny Brown, Kevin Abstract, and other well regarded artists, Quadeca has certainly placed himself into an incredibly creative world. And that is clear in this new project: packed from beginning to end with grandiose and beautiful orchestral sounds while weaving in dark and brutal synths and other modern instrumentation into many sections. And here’s the crazy bit – it works! It’s an incredible, emotional, and thought-provoking listen which also happens to be one of the most creative and genuine albums of the decade.
- trompe l’oeil – untiljapan
untiljapan is, much like many other artists in his subgenre, an incredibly elusive figure. Built off of the rage and trap sounds of other artists like Playboi Carti and Future, untiljapan has created an incredibly infectious and creative project. Each track is unique, yet incredibly similar. They are all pulled together by untiljapan’s smooth and wavey voice which floats in the mix of every instrumental.
- Bleeds – Wednesday
Filled with a mix of rock, country, and even a little bit of 90’s pop inspiration- Wednesday’s “Bleeds” is a triumph of genre-bending creativity. Being the 6th album from the band, the maturation is incredibly clear. This project is polished, clean, and beautiful. It is easily one of the best rock albums of the year, and it’s easily of the most recommendable albums of the year.
